For the first time ever at the 20th Annual Brave New Voices Youth Poetry Festival, powered by Youth Speaks, Fayetteville was represented by Poetic Pathos Youth Slam. This added Fayetteville to list of several cities that represent the state of North Carolina, including Charlotte, Greensboro, Asheville, Durham, and Chapel Hill. Brave New Voices is a tremendous opportunity for the youth of Fayetteville, as it gives youth poets of the city and area something to work towards. It is a goal, an accomplishment, and an opportunity that allows poets to grow, learn, and experience a festival full of workshops, competition, growth, acceptance, conversation, and poetry that they will look back on and cherish for years to come. The festival is a way to create positive change in our society and ensure our youth are able to make a difference, not only for themselves, but for society. They are our future. Poetic Pathos Youth Slam aims to invest in our future, so we work towards Brave New Voices each year and hope to take at least six competitors and an entourage to experience the event.
